Sri Lanka should continue winning streakSri Lanka vs Ireland Sri Lanka’s winning streak may continue in their second Super 8s game when they face Ireland today. It may just be too tough a task for the Irish to face the magic of the likes of Jayasuryiya, Malinga and Muralitharan, considering their maiden entry to the second round of a World Championship. According to Castrol Index, Batting Momentum or BM of Sri Lanka has been powered by consistent batting display from Tillakaratne Dilshan. An analysis of Dilshan’s batting performance reveals his keenness in rotating the strike, thus frustrating the opposition bowlers. Dilshan scores through singles and two’s off 74% of the deliveries. He has executed the role as a grafter of runs to perfection in order to provide stability to the Lankan BM of 233. In the bowling department, Lasith Malinga has bolstered Sri Lanka’s Bowling Efficiency with his tremendous performance by bagging 35% of the wickets that Sri Lanka has taken in this Championship. Ireland has also to deal with the mercurial Muralitharan and the hard hitting Jayasuriya. It remains to be seen if it’s going to be another one-sided affair for the Lankans or will a resurgent Ireland put up a good fight. |
