Answer: The basics of the 3 games largely remain the same for a captain
Know your opposition and the batsmens' stregnths.Exploit their weaknesses having the right bowlers bowl and fielders in the right places.
Know when to go for the kill and take a risk.
Consolidate when the chips are down.
Be ahead of the game in his mind (3-4 overs for a T20,10 for a oneday n a session for a test match).
Surprise the opposition.
Good captains have these qualities and they can be fine tuned naturally by them to adapt to any form of the game.
A thinking captain will do well in any form of the game.
Its 1 captain for me for all three forms.
The 3 forms of the game give the captains different margins for tactical errors and different number of opportunities for innovation.
