Sharad Sharma´s Answer
A. No doubt S.Ganguly is a great batsmen but i disagree that all the performers are not the best coaches see gary kristen he did a good job as a coach and sandeep patil also a very good coach talk about ganguly I think he has every quality to become a good coach & he known how to motivate a young player as we see player like sehwag,Yuvraj and harbhajan shine under his captaincy so they known how to get best from theplayers,So what you want from a coach. He never give up(come back after drop from indian side) and he is a fighter and they known how to make opposition down.I think there is no reason that ganguly not become a good coach. If they choose coaching profession No doubt India has a bright future under his coaching.Lastly, there is some simlarity b/w coach and a captain both first work to make a good teamchemistry and motivate a player who suffering from low confidence and make good plan against opposition."Ganguly has both the Qualities"

A. Hi swaminath, I believe Ganguly can be a great coach.firstly because he knows the pulse of indian cricket which can be very beneficial to a indian setup and only under his captaincy india started to win abroad more frequently, it happens because of his backing of his players at the right moment. It is this belief that players started to feel more comfortable and more relax which help them performing well, we have the examples of harbhajan singh, virendar sehwag, yuvraj singh and zaheer khan who matures as a player under his captaincy.A coach needs to be someone whom player can open their thoughts and can trust. For this reason I believe ganguly is popular among his teammates because of his openness and belief in the players. And lastly he has passion to perform for the country.

A. sourav-is a brilliant captian and a good batsmen.A good captain can never be a great coach.Take the example of Gregchapel-a great batsmen and captain but couldnot coach indian team as expected.Dada can try his coaching skills with kolkkata knight riders and one good thing about sourav is he is a motivator, especially young players. But my gut feeling is he can be a good coach but at the same time he cant lead a team. Now he is confined only to ipl,but after that he can take up coaching.
Senthilkuma´s Answer
A. Well my personal opinion would be yes, he is good student of the game, one who knows what it takes to transform the team in to a winning unit and he always would like to catch bull by its horns, so he has exceptional qualities in him that can make him a better coach but he needs a stint at domestic circuit to fine tune his coaching skills before an assignment with International teams.
Harsha´s Answer
A. i believe the qualities you need to be a captain and a coach are slightly different. the captain is the general leading his troops and being responsible for their results. the coach's job is a little more subtle, he must stay in the background and not challenge the leader because there cannot be two power centres. i am not sure if ganguly will enjoy being that kind of person given his personality but it really depends on whether he is willing to adapt. he certainly has the skill! and to answer the second part of your question, definitely no! being coach and captain is not easy because of the demands on time.
CI Edito´s Answer
A. A good Captain and motivator may not always be a great coach. None of the coaches of world cricket have been the greatest of cricketers in their playing days. Like great players may not be the best captain, similarly, coaching a team requires definite skills - like strategising, man-management, imparting techniques and skills, tips to players going through a dip etc - which may not be the forte of a great player. As for Ganguly, he may try his hand in coaching, but let him prove his worth by coaching the state team then first and earn his brownie points.
Srinath H. R´s Answer
A. Saurav Ganguly can be an excellent coach as he understands the pulse of Indian cricket better than many others. His aggressive approach will definitely augur well for the Indians. As most of the players in the current team have played under his captaincy, he will be well aware of their strengths and weaknesses and this will make his job a lot easier. I always feel that players who have played the game for a considerable length of time understand the nuances of the game better than anybody else. With Ganguly’s more than a decade-long stint in international cricket, he can be a very handy coach. Ganguly has an excellent record in ODIs and relatively good record in tests. He can handle the media with ease, thanks to his stint as a captain.

A. well gary has just been doing ryte job now and he has maintained to do it in his own calm way.he prefers to stay away from media and to stay from unpleasant controversies.no doubt dada is great motivator of men but he had his own way and he may gain wrath of some cricketeres due to his aggressive and no non-sense attitude and our system is such if any coach cant get along well with superstars of the team and board officials his bench life is shortened automatically.look wat happend to greg chappel.gary realized this and he knew how to go about his job..so lets leave it for a moment to gary and his men...they doin gud job..
Sumanta Ganguly´s Answer
A. My sense is no. See great players are coupled with greater egos, and not that anything is worn in having an ego. Cause over a period of time aggression and ego are built into the players DNA. Unfortunately that is never one of the desired skills of a great strategist. Too much ego comes from too much attachment to self and self POV. This unfortunately is not a desired skillset for a Coach. To be a true strategist of the game you need to have an open mind, seek inputs absorb the best and align a large group to believe in am common goal. None of which can be achieved coming from an Egocentric approach...which is so much Ganguly!
jagadish tulagapu´s Answer
A. Hi Swaminath, Ganguly as a coach? I don't think Ganguly can be a better coach. First and foremost thing is he is not trained in that, secondly he is very young to be a coach for a team like India with a lot of high profiled players. The other major setback is BCCI is not preferring an Indian Coach these days the best example is Mohinder Amarnath who never got a stint as a coach, not only BCCI for that matter, almost all the cricket playing nations are opting for foreign coaches, the best reasons known to them. Even if Ganguly makes it to the Indian Team as coach, the so called EGO clashes will definitely arises with in the team especially with the Captain, that is where Indian Coaches score less points as compared to a foreign coach. From my point of view, all odds are against Ganguly and i firmly Ganguly would be better administrator than a coach.
