West Indies hope to finish with win

Chris Gayle and his men would look to lift their performance and try to get a win against Australia, when the two sides meet for the second T20 International at Sydney.

Australia were the more superior team in every department in the first T20I at Hobart, on Sunday. David Warner and Shane Watson gave them a great start which allowed them to recover and get a big total on the board, despite a mid-innings collapse. Brad Haddin played a crucial role with some lusty blows towards the end of the innings. West Indies had the hosts under pressure for a spell but could not sustain it till the end. Shaun Tait and Dirk Nannes led their bowling attack and ripped through the West Indies top order, pushing them onto the back foot very early in the run chase. They consistently bowled in the right areas and were rewarded with wickets regularly. At the end, it was a comfortable win and the hosts would be looking to repeat that sort of display in Sydney, to complete an unbeaten summer of cricket at home, across all formats.

West Indies have a lot of issues to deal with. Their side has looked very ordinary and the absence of some key players due to injury has hurt them. Chris Gayle has been very disappointing through the tour, throwing away his wicket to some poor shot selection, time and again. Lendl Simmons, Narsingh Deonarine and Wavell Hinds have failed to deliver with ample opportuniity and the top order collapses have put the Windies in unrecoverable situations. The bowling has been ordinary as well with the exception of Nikita Miller and Kemar Roach, both of whom were excellent in first match. The team has lacked self confidence and belief in their abilities but they will have to find the right balance quickly, if they are to have any chance of ending the tour with a win.
