Bangladesh disappoint yet again

India continued their good run of form as they beat Bangladesh comprehensively and moved to the top of the points table, ahead of Sri Lanka.

India beat Sri Lanka by six wickets and extended their winning streak to three matches. They will now face Sri Lanka in the final of the triangular series at Dhaka on Wednesday.

MS Dhoni won the toss for India and as expected, put Bangladesh into bat. The Indian bowlers were successful in getting some early breakthroughs, much like the game against Sri Lanka yesterday. They restricted Bangladesh to 44 for two in the Quick Start overs and made it very difficult for the hosts to score freely. Their slower bowlers kept up the good work in the middle overs and inflicted further damage with another three wickets before the half way mark which left Bangladesh tottering on 95 for five. The home team fought back with a 106 run stand between skipper, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah that helped them go past 200. Naeem Islam made a contribution late in the Extreme Performance overs that pushed heir total to 247.

Gautam Gambhir and Dinesh Karthik got India off to a steady start, adding 53 runs in the mandatory Power play. Bangladesh were able to pull things back slightly with wickets of the two openers in quick succession and sensed a slight window of opportunity. Virat Kohli, who has been in top form recently displayed good composure and led the Indian charge. He shared a couple of healthy partnerships with Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni which put the match firmly in India’s favour. Kohli went on to get a well deserved century on the last ball as India wrapped things up in the 43rd over.

Virat Kohli was adjudged Man of the Match for his unbeaten 102 off 95 balls with a Batting Momentum of 150.
