Hodge, Tiwary lead Knight Riders to victory
Brad Hodge and Manoj Tiwary scored half centuries to give Kolkata a comfortable victory in their first home game against Bangalore.

Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping to restrict Bangalore to a small total. The hosts got off to the perfect start, reducing Bangalore to just 24 for three at the end of the Quick start overs. Shreevats Goswami, Manish Pandey and Virat Kohli were three wickets to fall. Eoin Morgan’s campaign got off to disappointing start when he became Kolkata’s next victim. Jacques Kallis led Bangalore’s fightback. He shared a 38-run stand with Rahul Dravid for the fifth wicket, followed by a 37-run partnership with Robin Uthappa for the sixth. Kallis remained unbeaten on 65 off 52 balls as Royal Challengers finished with 135 for seven at the end of 20 overs.
Knight Riders got off to a flying start in their run chase with Brad Hodge and Manoj Tiwary firing on all cylinders. The hosts were 61 for no loss at the end of the Power Play which was a result of some powerful hitting from both the openers, helped by some poor bowling and below average fielding from the Royal Challengers. The openers went on to share a 101-run partnership which put the match firmly in Knight Riders’ favour. Both the openers eventually gave away their wickets but the Knight Riders got to their target in just 19.2 overs.
Manoj Tiwary was adjudged Man of the Match for his 50 off just 29 balls which was achieved with a Batting Momentum of 86. Angelo Mathews would have been a strong contender after figures of four for 19 with a Bowling Efficiency of 253.
