
Wednesday, September 08, 2010England stroll to resounding winA splendid and a professional show by the fast bowlers set up the game for England and the batsmen scaled down the modest target with ease to register a record seventh T20I win for them on the trot, thereby clean sweeping the series 2-0. After opting to bat on a sporting deck, Pakistan got off to a worst possible start and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. They lost there top four premier batsmen in the first five overs and managed to add just 23 runs in the Quick Start Overs. The visitors never recovered from the early blows and struggled throughout the innings to build a sizeable partnership. The biggest partnership they managed was of 29 runs for the eighth wicket between Abdul Razzaq and Umar Gul with the latter hitting few lusty shots but in the end Pakistan innings was bundled out for a paltry 89 runs in 18 overs out of which 30/5 came in the Extreme Performance Overs. The Brits bowled to a strategy and bounced the Asian team who didn’t resist the pull shot and fell prey to it. The fast bowlers hunted seven wickets among them with Tim Bresnan being the best by picking up three wickets and earning a Bowling Efficiency of 330.
Without any doubt, England completely overwhelmed Pakistan with an overall Castrol Index of 168 in comparison to Pakistan’s 83. Tim Bresnan bagged the Man of the Match award for his fabulous bowling, earning an Overall Castrol Index of 327 while Shoaib Akhtar once again was the top performer for Pakistan with an overall Index of 160. Now, these two sides will collide in a 5-match ODI series starting at Chester-le-Street on Friday, the 10th of September, 2010.

Sunday, September 05, 2010Yardy powers England to victory in entertaining contestAn impressive English bowling restricting the visitors to 126/4 and then they followed it up by a sensible batting with a bit of hiccup to thump Pakistan by 5 wickets to win the first game of the 2-match T20I series. After being put into bat under the overcast conditions, Pakistan started off well by blasting 12 runs in the first over but after that Kamran Akmal’s wicket fell in the very next over. Mohammad Yousuf and Shahzaib Hasan then stitched a partnership of 37 runs for the second wicket and added 49 runs in the Quick Start Overs for the loss of one wicket. Just when the duo started to look threatening, England’s premier spin bowler Graeme Swann send both of them back to the hut. He bowled a tremendous spell of spin bowling and spun the ball enough to keep the batsmen guessing, picking 2 wickets for 14 runs in his 4 overs, thereby earning a Bowling Efficiency of 171. Pakistani batsmen were finding it very difficult to time their strokes and managed to add just 42/1 in the Extreme Performance Over with the batsman of Afridi’s caliber at the crease. Umar Akmal was the top scorer for Pakistan, scoring 35 and finished with a Batting Momentum of 41.

Chasing a mediocre target for a win, the English side got off to a rollicking start by adding 26 runs in no time but then suffered a couple of setbacks. England managed 35 runs in the Quick Start Overs for the loss of two wickets. Ravi Bopara and Paul Collingwood came together and added 31 runs for the third wicket and sealed the game in their side’s favour. The duo then departed in quick succession but once again, like the last match, Eoin Morgan and Michael Yardy saw their team home with an unbeaten 27-run stand for the fifth wicket. The Pakistani bowlers tried their best but in the end were left with too little to defend.
Chasing 127 for a win, England like their opposition lost Kieswetter in the second over when the scoreboard read just 9 runs. Steve Davies and Ravi Bopara steadied the ship with a 33-run stand for the second wicket but the latter departed by playing an unnecessary shot. The Brits gathered 42 runs in the Quick Start Overs for the loss of couple of wickets. After that the wickets fell like nine pins as they lost three wickets within a span of 12 deliveries. Pakistan sniffed a chance for win but England’s new talisman in the middle order, Eoin Morgan, joined forces with Michael Yardy and shut down any hope for the visitors’ comeback with an unbeaten 67-run stand for the sixth wicket. Morgan, who played a key role in the victory top scored with 38 runs and earned a Batting Momentum of 60 while Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi grabbed two wickets each and finished with a Bowling Efficiency of 104 and 89 respectively.
