Will Raina be able to restore faith in Indian team amongst fans and selectors?

After a second successive debacle at the World T20, young Suresh Raina gets a chance to lead a new-look side into the tri-series in Zimbabwe which also includes Sri Lanka.

The seniors have been given a rest and plenty of youngsters have been given an opportunity. The selected ones are those who have made a mark for themselves in the domestic circuit and in the IPL.

There is plenty of inexperience in the side with the skipper being the most capped player. He is up against Sri Lanka led by Tillakaratne Dilshan for this tour but is a side which has much more experience and Zimbabwe who have been off cricket due to infamous reasons but still post a good challenge. However, the bench-strength has got everything to play for with the selectors looking for fresh faces and such that could supersede expectations as was the case in the inaugural T20 World Cup.

Raina has been one of the most improved cricketers for India and he would like to prove that he can lead from the front. But the big Question is – Will he be able to create the same magic in the series as Dhoni did against much stronger and tougher oppositions on a bigger stage? Well, probably not, but with a lot full of youngsters eager to prove their worth, he could well bring joy for the supporters.
