Sachin made 175 and we still lost the ODI. One of the reason is the risky shot he played and got out. Is it not that the responsibility of the in-form batsman on the given day and in a given match that he should carry the team through to the possible victory?
Cricket is very much a human game and technology shouldn't interfere too much so as to take off the ...
Hi Srinath, as you said, not only the cricket but almost all games are very much human games but the exception is that cricket is more complex in nature in many aspects when compared to other games. While accepting the ultimate result either win or loose, obviously one would expect that the game should be fair enough at the end. In the present days of advanced technology is concerned, it is necessary to use the available technical systems to make the Cricket more and more transparent with a condition that the same should be more accurate than human judgment. Self satisfaction of players, fans, Criticism on game etc., are the ultimate outcome of the game. It depends up on how genuine or transparent or fair the game would be. In cricket, many judgments like run ours, bat and pad, judging the clean catches, touching the boundary rope by the fielder while fielding etc., are very accurately judged by the available systems because no human can judge those things precisely. As per LBW is concerned we can’t predict either manually or mechanically 100% so the same is with umpires only many times. In my opinion, it is necessary to use the technology to eliminate the human errors, to make the game more and more transparent, not always but if the things are beyond human control.
Sachin should retire as a player and take the job of either a batting coach or full time coach which...
Hello, jagadish, the point of view you have expressed about Sachin’s retirement is not a good idea. Because Sachin himself has already clarified for the points that you have raised at one point of time few days back and you can find the same here also. There are so many mixed opinions on Sachin’s retirement across the world except sachin’s personal opinion that ultimately matters. But majority of them have desired that Sachin has to continue for some more time because Indian Cricket really needs him for some more time. Playing in international cricket for 20 years span is not a joke, still he is hungry for runs. Its natural, along with age he has changed his technique according to his comfort, obviously his skill & technique have changed and it would’t be same as earlier. Just recall his recent past performances and see where his standards are when compared to other youngsters of Indian team. Recent 175 runs against Australia is a superb example for his class even after 20 years. Now a days cricket fans and Media are too much concern about Sachin’s retirement than Sachin himself. Once when the chairman of the selection committee K Srikkanth has said that Sachin should keep playing for another two-three years in the interest of the country, then Sachin replied, ''I will keep playing as long as I feel good. I don't need any X Y to tell me how long to play and when to stop. No body told me when to start. And no body can tell me to stop.'' While answering another question, “do you play for records”? again he replied…”I don't play for records but if it come my way it is ok”. So, even after his clarification, I don’t find any valid reason to debate on sachin’s retirement. Another important thing is that nobody knows what is sachin’s internal desire after retiring from cricket. No doubt, he is a great player, but how can we say that he will also fit to be a coach also? So without knowing his personal interest and desire how one can expect or suggest him to be an Indian coach or something like that?

The Champions League has been a wonderful platform for a lot of cricketers but with no Indian teams in contention for the title, the tournament has not gone down well with the Indian masses.
The rain-abandoned game against Australia has only compounded matters for India who now find themselves in a not-so-happy situation at the Champions Trophy.
this is not the time to burn effigies since showing disappointment doesn’t mean demeaning yourself. india got it wrong tactically and that happens even to the most hardened, analytical business heads. dhoni made mistakes and i am sure he knows he made them and who knows he might emerge a better captain after this.
