Batting Momentum
Batting Momentum is a function of runs scored & the rate at which those runs are scored. Batting Momentum is used in calculating Castrol Index for teams and for players.
Bowling Efficiency
Bowling Efficiency is a function of wicket equivalents & the economy rate.
Bowling Efficiency is used in calculating Castrol Index for teams and for players.
Wicket Equivalent
The concept of Wicket Equivalents is introduced to give a higher weight to the wicket of a player who is more skilled at batting. A player’s skill at batting is a function of his batting average. Wicket Equivalents is applied to calibrate the contribution of team or individual’s wicket taking performance; The runs scored by a player are worth the same, regardless of his batting average.
Fielding Points
Every player is evaluated on fielding ability. A player’s fielding points factors in positive as well as negative impact on saving runs and contributing to wicket-taking for the team.
The index factors in favorably, runs saved, catches taken, diving stops made, run-outs enabled, stumpings made. It penalizes a player for runs conceded, fielding or wicket-keeping fumbles, catches dropped & run-out or stumping opportunities missed.
Castrol Index for a player
The Player Castrol Index is a summation of the player’s Batting Momentum, Bowling Efficiency & Fielding points.
Quick Start Batting
This is one of the input parameters to compute a team’s Castrol Index. It measures the ability of a team to score runs quickly and at the same time conserve wickets in the early overs of an innings. For the T20 format it is measured over the first six overs of an innings and for ODI, it is measured over the first ten overs of an innings.
Quick Start Bowling
This is one of the input parameters to compute a team’s Castrol Index. It measures the ability of a team to pick up wickets early and at the same time restrict the scoring rate of the batting team in the opening overs of an innings. For the T20 format it is measured over the first six overs of an innings and for ODI, it is measured over the first ten overs of an innings.
Extreme Pressure Batting
This is one of the input parameters to compute a team’s Castrol Index. It is a measure of how a team successfully leverages partnerships to score rapidly in the final overs of an innings. For the T20 format it is measured over the last five overs of an innings and for ODI, it is measured over the last ten overs of an innings.
Extreme Pressure Bowling
This is one of the input parameters to compute a team’s Castrol Index. It is a measure of how a team successfully breaks partnerships to restrict run scoring by its opposition in the final overs of an innings. For the T20 format it is measured over the last five overs of an innings and for ODI, it is measured over the last ten overs of an innings
Extreme Pressure Performance
This is one of the input parameters to compute a team’s Castrol Index. For teams that win the match in the last over of the second innings or win with just one wicket in hand, their ability to put in an Extreme Pressure Performance earns them bonus points for their team Castrol Index. In the same way, penalty points of equal magnitude are awarded to the Castrol Index of the losing team in that match.

Castrol Index for a team is a function of the teams Batting Momentum, Bowling Efficiency, Quick Start Batting, Quick Start Bowling, Extreme Pressure Batting, Extreme Pressure Bowling, batting & bowling performances in Batting & Bowling Powerplay overs & Extreme Pressure Performance.
PowerPlay 3 Performance
This is one of the metrics used to calculate a team’s Castrol Index. It is the performance of a team when Batting in the Batting PowerPlay overs of the match. It is a function of runs scored & wickets conceded by the team during these overs.and also It is the performance of a team when Bowling in the Batting PowerPlay overs of the match. It is a function of runs conceded & wickets taken by the team during these overs.
PowerPlay 2 Performance
This is one of the metrics used to calculate a team’s Castrol Index. It is the performance of a team when Batting in the Bowling PowerPlay overs of the match. It is a function of runs scored & wickets conceded by the team during these overs and also It is the performance of a team when Bowling in the Bowling PowerPlay overs of the match. It is a function of runs conceded & wickets taken by the team during these overs.
